H&F Files Notice of Claim in Joseph Jackson Wrongful Conviction

Today we put Nassau County on notice that exonerated client Joseph Jackson intends to file a wrongful conviction lawsuit after spending over 23 years in jail. Nassau County's own DA moved earlier this month to vacate Mr. Jackson's 25-year to life murder conviction after conceding Brady violations.

H&F Obtains Federal Sanctions Order against Defense Attorney for Improper Deposition Conduct

H&F successfully moved for sanctions before EDNY Magistrate Judge the Hon. Cheryl L. Pollak following defense counsel's egregious deposition conduct. The City will need to pay plaintiff's attorney's fees and costs associated with the deposition, and to reproduce the witness for further questioning.

Earl Truvia and Gregory Bright were convicted of a 1975 murder in New Orleans and sentenced to life. Their conviction was based on the testimony of a single eyewitness, a schizophrenic heroin addict who testified under a false name to hide her criminal history. Local prosecutors did not turn over this and other key evidence to the defendants.
